How it works

Booked. Assessed. Informed.

From booking to walking out with your data, here's the full picture of what to expect.

01

Pick your assessments

Start with a single DEXA scan, or stack several tests in one visit. New to DexaFit? A DEXA on its own is the most common first appointment.

02

Come in and get assessed

Most tests run 6–20 minutes. No needles, DEXA, VO2, and RMR are all non-invasive. Your appointment is booked longer than the test itself, so nothing gets rushed.

03

Immediate results explained

No waiting on a lab. We pull your results up on the big screen and take the time to walk you through them, what each number means and what to do about it. Everything lands in the DexaFit AI app too, so you can revisit it later and share it with your doctor or trainer.

Before you arrive

How to prepare for each assessment.

These guidelines protect the accuracy of your results. Deviating, even slightly, can affect the data. Every appointment is booked well past the length of the test itself, because the results review is the part that matters, and we don't rush it.

Quick answers

Common questions.

DexaFit pairs clinical-grade equipment with data-powered reporting developed across more than a decade of real-world measurements on four continents. Most providers hand you a number. We hand you the number, the context behind it, the likely drivers, and a clear direction for what to do next.

Yes, and it's the most common way people start. A standalone DEXA Body Scan is $149 for a 30-minute appointment, with no requirement to bundle anything with it. You'll get your body fat percentage, lean muscle mass broken out by region, visceral fat, and bone density, plus time to go through all of it on the big screen before you leave. If you decide later that you want your metabolic numbers too, you can add an RMR on a future visit or book the Baseline next time.

Yes. A DEXA scan uses extremely low-level X-ray radiation, roughly equivalent to about four bananas worth of exposure, or a few hours of natural background radiation you encounter outdoors. The technology has been used in hospitals and research settings for decades and is considered safe for the vast majority of healthy adults.

Longer than the test itself, on purpose. A single DEXA or RMR is a 30-minute appointment, VO2 Max is 50 minutes, the Baseline bundle (DEXA + RMR) is a full hour, and the Works is two hours. The testing is only part of that: DEXA takes 6–12 minutes, RMR is 15 minutes under the canopy, and VO2 Max runs 8 to 20 minutes depending on your fitness and how you choose to test. The rest of the appointment is spent going through your results with you on the big screen before you leave.

There's free parking directly in front of the suite, so you won't be circling a lot or feeding a meter. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early. Clients come in from Spartanburg, Anderson, Clemson, Lake Keowee, Hendersonville, Brevard, and Asheville, and I-85, 385, and I-26 can all add time you didn't budget for. Arriving sooner is fine. Our waiting room is open, with comfortable seating for two and a restroom, and we'll be calibrating equipment until your appointment time. Running late? Call or text 864-990-4425 and we'll do what we can.

No. Most people walk. Our treadmill protocols use a comfortable pace on a gradually rising incline, which produces a fully valid, complete test. If you would rather run, we will test you running. If you would rather ride, bring your bike, most thru-axle bikes are compatible, though check with us beforehand to confirm. We can also test you on your own rower. The test ends when you reach your own limit, whatever that looks like.

No. We use a ventilated canopy hood, a clear, lightweight dome that rests over your head while you relax. There is no mask sealed to your face and no clip pinching your nose, so you breathe completely normally. That matters, because anything that makes you tense or breathe differently can skew a resting measurement. Every patient gets a clean canopy and a brand-new medical-grade filter, the lights are dimmed, and there is relaxing spa music for the 15 minutes.

The DEXA Body Composition Scan is the most critical assessment for anyone on GLP-1 therapy. It shows whether the weight you're losing is fat, muscle, or both, information the scale is completely blind to. Roughly 1 in 3 pounds lost on GLP-1 is lean mass. The DEXA tells you whether you're in that group. Pairing it with RMR adds a full metabolic picture.

Absolutely, and we strongly encourage it. DexaFit reports use the same clinical technology and terminology recognized by physicians worldwide. Many clients bring their results to GPs, endocrinologists, sports medicine doctors, and dietitians. The data is designed to integrate seamlessly into a clinical conversation.

Most clients return every 3–6 months to track how their body is responding to training, nutrition, or protocol changes. A single session gives you a baseline. Sequential sessions give you accountability and the ability to see what's actually working, down to the tissue level.
